Aji Charapita chili Seeds World’s Most Expensive Chili

Price for Package of 10, 25, 50 (0.085g) seeds.

Our Charapita plants 2020 growing just fine (see pictures)

As you can see yourself from our photos, that the seeds are from our own plants (organically grown) and you know what you will get from the seeds you buy from us...

This chili pepper is the most expensive in the world! Although still fairly unknown in most Western countries, the Aji Charapita is a highly sought-after treat among chili pepper connoisseurs and five-star restaurant chefs.

Native to the jungles of northern Peru, the Aji Charapita is known as wild chili pepper and has only recently being cultivated for commercial use. Due to its rarity and hefty prices, it is often known as the "Mother of All Chilis" With a Scoville hotness rating of between 30,000 – 50,000 units, the Aji Charapita will burn a hole through your tongue as well as your wallet.

Nicknamed “the mother of all chili” Aji Charapita reportedly costs a minimum of $25,000 per kilo, making it the most expensive chili pepper in the world, and one of the most expensive spices, along with vanilla and saffron.

It may be small (up to 1 meter in height), but the Charapita chili or ‘aji Charapita’ as it is known in Peru is not to be underestimated. Aji Charapita (Capsicum chinense) or Charapita is a bushy shrub that produces masses of (over 400 fruits per plant) small maturing yellow round peppers.

Used fresh, this tiny pepper has a strong fruity flavor that gives salsas and sauces a tropical taste, but it is mostly used in powdered form to a bit of spiciness to various dishes. The ripe fruit was simply pierced or squeezed and the juice utilized as a piquant finishing spice on food. These chilies also bring many health benefits. Their capsaicinoids can help improve digestion and circulation when consumed as part of a balanced diet.

Aji Pineapple Chili Pepper Seeds

Price for Package of 5 seeds.

Aji Pineapple chile peppers mature from green into a deep orange when ripe. An average-sized yellow chile is around five inches in length, but they can get between 6 and 7 inches long. Like all members of Capsicum baccatum, the Aji Pineapple chile is flavor-forward, with a spicy kick at the end. It has a unique fruity flavor, reminiscent of a Poblano chile, and a subtle spice that is less harsh and more full-bodied. The Aji Pineapple ranks between 30,000 and 50,000 on the Scoville scale.

Current Facts

Aji Pineapple chile peppers are in the Capsicum baccatum family, and are among some of the lesser-known chiles. “Aji” is what most South Americans call chiles, and in Peru, the most popular and important ingredient in regional dishes is Aji Pineapple, or Peruvian hot pepper. These spicy chiles are also known as Aji Escabeche, Aji Limon or simply as yellow chile.

Applications

Aji Pineapple chiles are used most often in recipes as a paste. The chiles are dried and used as a ground spice in a variety of dishes. When cooked, the chiles turn yellow, living up to their name. The spicy chile is used to flavor many Peruvian and Bolivian dishes. The size of the chiles makes it a good candidate for stuffing or grilling applications. For fresh Aji Pineapple chiles, dice and add to mango or pineapple salsas, or boil whole fresh chiles and puree into a paste. Add to soups for an additional kick, or In Peru, the Aji Pineapple is considered to be part of the condiment trio, along with onions and garlic.

Geography/History

Aji Pineapple chiles, as well as other members of the baccatum species, are native to South and Central America and have been cultivated for over 7,000 years. Baccatum is a loose translation of “berry-like” which alludes to the shape of the fruits of the species. Aji Pineapple chiles are grown throughout South America, and on small farms in the Southwestern United States.

Alparac Tomato Seeds

Package of 20 seeds.

Variety from Serbia. Alparac is an early determinate tomato cultivar with a large number of fruits per plant, growing season length of 107 days, plant height of 60-65 cm, the red fruit which is slightly elongated and the average fruit weight of 95 g.

Sow in spring under glass or on a windowsill 1/16 inch deep. Germination takes around 6- 14 days at 65- 75F.

Transplant the seedlings when large enough to handle into 3-inch pots.

Grow on under cooler conditions and when about 8 inches tall, either plant in their growing position in the greenhouse or gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions and plant out 18 inches apart in a warm and sunny spot in moist, fertile well drained soil and keep watered.

What's the difference between "indeterminate" and "determinate" tomatoes?

Determinate tomatoes, or "bush" tomatoes, are varieties that grow to a compact height (generally 3 - 4'). Determinates stop growing when fruit sets on the top bud. All the tomatoes from the plant ripen at approximately the same time (usually over period of 1- 2 weeks). They require a limited amount of staking for support and are perfectly suited for container planting.

Indeterminate tomatoes will grow and produce fruit until killed by frost. They can reach heights of up to 12 feet although 6 feet is normal. Indeterminates will bloom, set new fruit and ripen fruit all at the same time throughout the season. They require substantial staking for support and benefit from being constrained to a central growing stem.

Ananas (Pineapple) Melon Seeds

Price for Package of 30 (1g) seeds.

The Ananas Melon, known in France as "Ananas D'Amerique a Chair Verte" is one of the most popular heirloom melons grown in the United States today and is also widely grown in the Middle East. The word "Ananas", is present both in the French and Italian languages both literally translate to mean "Pineapple" in English, so another common name for this variety is Pineapple Melon.

What is known however, is that the Ananas Melon was mentioned in M. M. Vilmorin-Andrieux's book "The Vegetable Garden" published in 1885. Vilmorin's book presents a colored plate depicting the variety. Reportedly, Thomas Jefferson was growing the Ananas Melon at his estate Monticello in 1794, while American seed companies began offering the variety commercially as early as 1824. In the years since, this wonderful melon variety became rare, but was presumedly re-discovered in a French seed bank.

The Ananas Melon features a light green colored flesh. The interior is firm, very sweet to the taste and is highly perfumed. The scent of the Pineapple Melon is reminiscent of a ripe pineapple, hence its name "Ananas" or Pineapple Melon. Each melon is approximately 5 pounds and has an oval shape with a netted skin. The melons are produced on a very vigorous large vine.

Pineapple is a true "gourmet melon" that always sells well at Farmer's Markets!
